Letters from Edwards to his daughter, Jessie Edwards, during his Civil War service with the 1st New York Volunteer Engineer Regiment. He writes from South Carolina and Florida where his unit built landing wharves and signal towers. He discusses camp life, living quarters, entertainment, funeral arrangements, shelling raids, and a nearby African American regiment. Includes sketches.
